SOCKET Protocol company profile covering its overview, milestones, and verified team memebers.
socket.techFounded 2021
The SOCKET Protocol is a chain abstraction protocol developed by Vaibhav Chellani and Rishabh Khurana. It enables developers to collaborate across numerous blockchain networks without having to deal with complicated interfaces. Using Modular Order Flow Auctions (MOFA), it connects apps, users, and assets across different chains smoothly and flexibly. Built to tackle issues such as blockchain fragmentation, liquidity silos, and poor cross-chain UX, Socket helps applications run across 300+ chains and rollups while still feeling like a single, unified experience for users. The SOCKET is actively powering 100+ protocols and contributing to large-scale transaction activity across networks. Key Features of The SOCKET Protocol: • Supports building full-stack applications that work across chains, with global coordination and local execution. • Connects easily with wallets, DEXs, DeFi platforms, NFTs, derivatives, and app chains. • Runs on a modular architecture made up of watchers, transmitters, switchboards, and app gateways. • Enables arbitrary message passing, allowing smart contracts on different chains to communicate and share data smoothly. SOCKET Milestones: Year Achievements 2021 Founding & Movr Launch Vaibhav Chellani and Rishabh Khurana founded Socket. It began as Movr Network, which served as a bridge aggregator for the multichain ecosystem. 2022 Seed Funding Movr rebranded to Socket and secured seed funding. Around the same time, the team secured $5 million in seed funding led by Framework Ventures, with Coinbase Ventures and Nascent also participating. Bungee Launch Socket introduced Bungee, its principal front-end application. It connects numerous bridges to let users choose the cheapest and quickest options. 2023 Socket DLM and Application Chains Socket implemented Data Layer Messaging (DLM). This made it easier for developers to create "Chain-Abstracted" apps, which do not require users to switch networks explicitly. 2024 The "Socket 2.0" Pivot The team turned to chain abstraction. They launched Modular Order Flow Auctions (MOFA) to bring liquidity together from over 300 chains and rollups. 2025 Bungee "Retrodrop" & Beta Bungee entered a more community-focused phase with its waitlist and points system, indicating a movement toward decentralized governance. Mainstream Integration Socket infrastructure is now used as a backend by large wallets like MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet, which power their built-in “Bridge” and “Swap” features.
