Scroll is a zkEVM Layer 2 blockchain designed to allow Ethereum to scale without sacrificing its safety or developer capabilities. Through the application of ZK rollups technology, it allows for fast transaction speeds, reduced transaction costs, and easy migration of Ethereum dApps without the need for rewriting the smart contracts by developers. Scroll ZKP Milestones: Year Key Achievements 2021 Scroll was founded by Ye Zhang, Sandy Peng, and Haichen Shen to build a "native" zkEVM. 2022 The project opened its first public testnet, giving the community an early chance to interact with and test the zkEVM. 2023 Scroll launched its public Goerli testnet, with support for all EVM opcodes. After two years of development, Scroll officially launched on the Ethereum mainnet. 2024 The Bernoulli Upgrade introduced EIP-4844 (blobs), which significantly reduced data costs. Scroll launched Scroll Canvas, an on-chain attestation system designed to track user reputation and identity. The Darwin Upgrade introduced multi-batch proof aggregation, reducing gas fees by approximately 1.7x. Scroll introduced the SCR Token, bringing a governance mechanism for decentralized protocol management. 2025 The team focused on technical improvements, such as faster 1-second block times, to enhance network performance.
