Puffer Finance is a liquid trading protocol based on Ethereum and powered by EigenLayer. It allows users to stake ETH while maintaining liquidity using its native liquid restaking token, pufETH. Unlike traditional Ethereum staking, which keeps assets locked, Puffer Finance combines Ethereum staking incentives, EigenLayer restaking income, and DeFi liquidity in a single ecosystem. The platform has received a lot of interest in the Ethereum staking, liquid staking, and restaking crypto sectors since it facilitates validator participation and allows for more capital-efficient staking. Key Features of Puffer Finance: • • Staking ETH grants users pufETH, a yield-bearing token that can also be utilized in DeFi apps. • Reduces the high ETH requirements for running Ethereum validators. • PufETH can be used for lending, liquidity management, yield farming, and other DeFi activities while earning staking incentives. • Integrates with EigenLayer to support additional services beyond Ethereum’s base layer. Puffer Finance Milestones Year Key Achievements 2022 The project started with a clear focus on solving Ethereum’s “slashing” risks. During this phase, the team developed Secure-Signer, a remote signing tool designed to help validators avoid penalties. 2023 The company received a grant from the Ethereum Foundation and later raised $5.5M in seed funding led by Lemniscap and Lightspeed Faction. The funding helped support the development of a permissionless staking pool. 2024 The team launched the pufETH Liquid Restaking Token (LRT) on EigenLayer. The protocol quickly crossed $1B in TVL within just a few weeks. The same year also saw the PUFFER token TGE (Token Generation Event) and the Season 1 Airdrop. 2025 The ecosystem expanded further with the launch of UniFi, a “Based Rollup” (L2) built for sub-second transactions.
