About

PiKNik is a cloud infrastructure and Web3 data storage company established enabling scalable, high-performance computing and decentralized storage solutions. It operates at the intersection of cloud computing, Web3 infrastructure, and decentralized data networks, allowing businesses to deploy and manage workloads without the limit of traditional infrastructure. Based in San Diego, the company focuses on making GPU computing, storage services, and blockchain-based infrastructure easier to use. It is an open seen as good option for startups, AI developers, and enterprises looking into decentralized cloud systems. Key Features of PiKNik • • Supports AI and GPU computing for model training, inference, and other data-heavy processing tasks. • Integrates decentralized storage to reduce reliance on centralized cloud providers. • Enables hybrid and multi-cloud deployment for flexible setups and stronger system resilience. • Offers scalable storage and compute options, from single VMs to large GPU clusters for AI, ML, and HPC workloads. PiKNik Milestones Year Achievements 2020 PiKNiK is founded in San Diego, California, by Kevin Huynh and Patrick Yu. The goal is to build enterprise-grade gateway infrastructure on decentralized networks like Filecoin and IPFS. 2021 PiKNiK became the first major North American storage provider on Filecoin. The team also hit an early milestone by on-boarding its first petabyte (1 million gigabytes) of verified storage capacity. 2022 The company raised a $2.98 million seed funding round led by Shima Capital. Launched the Enterprise Storage Provider Accelerator (ESPA), designed to train and certify institutional data centers joining decentralized storage networks. 2023 PiKNiK partnered with ZPrize to bring in advanced hardware, including early access to NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architectures. This helped speed up zero-knowledge (ZK) proof processing. 2024 It partnered with decentralized computing networks like Nosana, connecting its data center GPU fleet to public marketplaces for machine learning workloads. 2025 PiKNiK grew its total data infrastructure to over 200 petabytes (200 million gigabytes) across multiple US facilities. It supports large archival datasets for both public and private institutions, including NASA and the USC Shoah Foundation.
