opBNB is a Layer-2 scaling solution for BNB Chain, built using the Optimism OP Stack. It is designed to deliver fast blockchain performance, very low gas fees, and support for scalable decentralized applications (dApps). opBNB is used across gaming, decentralized exchanges, digital collectibles, and everyday transactions, helping expand practical blockchain use within the BNB ecosystem. As blockchain adoption increases, concerns about scalability and transaction costs become increasingly pressing. opBNB addresses this through Optimistic Rollup technology, creating a high-throughput environment that can process thousands of transactions per second while keeping fees minimal and the user experience smooth. Key Features of opBNB: • • Allows for between 4,000 and 5,000 transactions per second (TPS). • Optimized for daily use and microtransactions. • Settles on BNB Smart Chain after processing transactions off-chain. • Allows for easy integration with current apps by supporting EVM compatibility. • Supports enterprise-grade applications, DeFi, GameFi, and NFTs. opBNB Milestones Year Achievements 2020 BNB Smart Chain went live as a Layer 1 network, bringing smart contract support and EVM compatibility into the BNB ecosystem. 2021 The team started working on Layer 2 ideas, such as zk-rollups and optimistic rollups, to manage the growing DeFi and gaming activity on BSC. 2022 Work began on BNB Greenfield, a decentralized storage network that would ultimately play an important part in opBNB's Data Availability (DA) layer. 2023 The opBNB Testnet went live in June, followed by the Public Mainnet on September 13, 2023. It started with a capacity of over 4,000 TPS. 2024 A major upgrade pushed the block gas limit from 100M/s to 200M/s. This doubled throughput to 10,000 TPS and cut fees by 10x. 2025-2026 The Fourier upgrade reduced block times from 500ms to 250ms, making the network faster and more responsive for high-frequency dApps and gaming.
